Completed projects

  • Report: Research

    • OUT in Uganda: Working with partner organisations in Uganda we mapped the human rights abuses and development needs of sexual and gender minorities in Uganda.

    • OUT in Zimbabwe: Working with partner organisations in Zimbabwe we mapped the human rights abuses and development needs of sexual and gender minorities in Zimbabwe.

  • Inform: Education

    • OUTAcademy Global Campaigner Training (2021): We trained a range of new and inexperienced campaigners from over twenty different nation states on how to plan a successful activist campaign to effect social change happen via improving the lived experiences, or rights, of sexual and gender minorities. We trained people from countries as varied as Argentina, India, Uganda, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and more. We plan to offer this training annually.

    • Hidden Voices podcast project: We created twenty podcasts from twenty countries, elevating the voices of everyday sexual and gender minorities, to discuss their lived experiences of their nation states – outlining both the barriers faced by people, and the resistance to them. Example countries include Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Singapore, Brunei, Russia, Indonesia, and more.

    • Previous events: We have a range of previous events designed to educate the public on what is happening to sexual and gender minorities. Our events have covered author talks, public lectures and discussions with sexual and gender minorities in regions such as Southeast Asia, and specific countries such as Greece, Ghana and Mongolia. Whilst these are completed events we are regularly hosting new events.

    • ReportOUT Societies: We have set up ReportOUT Societies in universities across the United Kingdom, to support our wider education work and as a campaign base. We set up our first society at Cambridge University.

 

  • Defend: Campaigns

    • Previous campaigns: We have taken part in previous campaigns when we first launched, to highlight the lived experiences of sexual and gender minorities, for events such as Transgender Day of Remembrance and IDAHOBIT.

  • Report: Research

    • The Global Guide to Queer Rights: We are developing a book which will work as a global guide to the human rights of sexual and gender minorities, in every nation state. This will focus heavily on the social, cultural, religious and other pressures faced by sexual and gender minorities.

    • OUT in Belize: Working with partner organisations in Belize we are currently research the human rights, and development needs, of sexual and gender minorities in Belize.

    • OUT in Mongolia: Working with partner organisations in Mongolia we are currently research the human rights, and development needs, of sexual and gender minorities in Mongolia.

    • OUT in EthiopiaWorking with partner organisations in Ethiopia we are currently research the human rights, and development needs, of sexual and gender minorities in Ethiopia.

    • OUT in MoroccoWorking with partner organisations in Morocco we are currently research the human rights, and development needs, of sexual and gender minorities in Morocco.

 

  • Inform: Education

    • Flag in the Map Project: In partnership with the Gilbert Baker Foundation we asked the public to submit photographs of the Pride flag being used, or flown, in different nation states. We will be launching the final photographs in exhibits in New York and London, as well as producing a book.

    • Training courses: We will offer a range of human rights and international development training courses to the public as well as relevant CPD training courses. Our training courses aim to highlight how sexual and gender minorities should be at the forefront of human rights and international development narratives.

    • OUTAcademy: Our OUTAcademy is our virtual learning academy which offers a range of training courses to sexual and gender minorities. We will continue to offer courses via our OUTAcademy for sexual and gender minorities to increase their skills, including new and inexperienced campaigners across the globe.

    • ReportingIn: ReportingIn is a series of YouTube videos with activists and campaigners from different nation states. Building on our previous Hidden Voices podcast project we are developing a suite of videos to highlight and elevate the voices of sexual and gender minorities.

 

  • Defend: Campaigns

    • Green in the Rainbow Project: Funded by the National Lottery: Together for Our Planet Initiative, we were able to secure our first paid consultant who will engage with a community mapping study with a focus on the U.K., with global mapping in other nation states. This will scope the effects and threats of the climate emergency on sexual and gender minorities, and their communities.

    • United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Officers: Our SDG Officers are our campaign wing of what we do at ReportOUT. They bring our research to the United Nations international development systems, as well as producing our key research findings to the embassies, institutions and the governments of the nation states where we do our research. They will continue to engage with the UN Agenda 2030 processes, to ensure that sexual and gender minorities are recognised and acknowledged.
